Sperry

Sperry is an American brand of boat shoe designed in 1935 by Paul Sperry, Top-Siders were the first boat shoes introduced into the boating and footwear markets, CVOs were similarly designed with sailing in mind, combining a quick-drying cotton canvas upper with a white rubber sole to avoid scuffing the deck and plenty of traction to avoid falling overboard. After the shoes became a hit with Sperry’s yacht club Sperry sneakers’ popularity grew. In addition to becoming the official footwear for the U.S. Navy, CVOs were adopted by everyone from Ivy League college prepsters in Sperry’s hometown of New Haven, Connecticut to surfers in Venice Beach, California.
