Quaker Marine Supply Waxed Oysterman Hat Olive

Quaker Marine Supply’s founder and Coast Guard veteran, Joe Kadison, created this hat with functionality in mind, drawing from his personal experiences on the water. Similar to many items designed for specific purposes, the Oysterman has developed a unique character over time. To begin with, the bill is long. Measuring 4 3/4” in length, the Oysterman’s brim is 50% longer than that of a typical ball cap. The reason for this extended length is that it provides effective sun protection. The black glossy material used for the brim is identical to that found on the visors of the midway caps utilised by police officers. Joe Kadison chose this material due to its water-repellent properties.

In contrast to the standard 6-panel hats commonly available today, this hat is designed with 4 lateral panels, resulting in a low profile that minimizes wind resistance. True to its original design, it includes four eyelets on each side panel for ventilation. Constructed from durable canvas, it is built to perform and endure, featuring a dark green faux-leather underbrim that effectively absorbs reflected light
