Similar to numerous other natural substances, linseed oil has been supplanted by a versatile synthetic material known as vinyl. This material was utilized for 33 or 45 rpm records, and it also serves as the foundation for contemporary raincoats. Emerging in the early 1960s, these raincoats underwent various modifications, effectively merging lightweight design with waterproof capabilities. Innovations such as zip closures and velcro have made these garments significantly easier to wear compared to the traditional fisherman’s smocks of yesteryear, which were donned over the head.
